We want you!

How we work

We are a volunteer led community group that has regular meetings to discuss and organise events for all to attend. Our major events are funded by Melbourne Water and Brimbank City Council. We work closely with local businesses and schools to achieve better outcomes for the creek. If you would like to find out more about the nitty-gritty of how we work, please come along to one of our bi-monthly meetings (check out our events page here).

school sites

In 2018 we worked with seven local primary and secondary schools on Melbourne Water creek adoption projects. Workshops and educational talks were also carried out. One of our biggest goals is to connect with as many children as possible. To show them the joys of being on the creek and the importance of looking after our flora and fauna.

beautiful brimbank

Beautiful Brimbank is our litter arm of the FOKC. We apply for grants to run litter and waste campaigns and host litter clean ups, big and small.

love your station day

Love Your Station Day is our monthly clean up and plant care session at Sunshine Station. We give the area a bit of TLC with a good clean and weeding at our “Flagship Urban Planting”. This event is a great opportunity to chat with people in the community who might not know much about the creek or even be aware that it is there.

We have had lots of fun with various art projects including: A poetry competition and exhibition, bin wrap art, murals, poster and sign designs, making short films, silk screen printing and much more. We are very keen on reaching as many people as possible and using many different ways to do it.

We seek out landowners who live along the creek who would like to help restore the creek and beautify their area by planting behind their fences. We have many successful and beautiful Fence by Fence plantings along the creek and are always looking to work with more residents.
